LimiKids makes the same gym in two heights. The Apartment model fits ceilings from about seven feet eight to nine feet eight, and the Basement model fits lower rooms, from about six feet nine to eight feet nine. Get a tape out before you get a card out.
An indoor playset, which changes every assumption
Everything else in this category goes in a yard, and the whole conversation is about grading, anchoring, surfacing and weather. A LimiKids gym goes in a bedroom, a playroom or a basement, and none of that applies. What replaces it is a set of indoor constraints that are unfamiliar to most people buying a playset for the first time: ceiling height, floor space, what is under the floor, and what happens when a child falls indoors.
The range is built around a compact footprint. The Comet 2 fits into roughly three feet by three feet and still carries a ladder, a rope ladder, a horizontal bar with pull-up grips, a trapeze, gymnastic rings and a climbing rope. It ships flat, in a two foot by four foot box weighing about sixty-five pounds, which is genuinely useful if it has to come through a doorway or down a stairwell.
The larger configurations build outward from the Pegasus, adding a climbing net, monkey bar extensions and further nets depending on the model. The taller and wider it gets, the more the room around it matters as much as the gym itself.

The measuring is the part that matters. The assembly is comparatively quick.

None of these times help if the wrong model arrives. The ten minutes with a tape measure is the one that decides the project.
What goes wrong, specifically
The Apartment and Basement models are not interchangeable
LimiKids builds the gyms to fit a range of ceiling heights, and they sell two versions to cover it. The Apartment model fits ceilings from about seven feet eight inches to nine feet eight inches. The Basement model is made for lower rooms and fits from about six feet nine inches to eight feet nine inches. If your ceiling is below the range of the model you ordered, it will not go in, and there is nothing an installer can do about it on the day. Measure floor to ceiling at the exact spot the gym will stand, not at the doorway, because basements in particular vary across a room.
If you measure between about seven feet eight and eight feet nine, both models fit
The two ranges overlap in the middle, which confuses people who assume one answer must be wrong. Anywhere in that band you have a genuine choice, and it is worth thinking about which end of the range you sit at rather than picking either at random. A gym adjusted near the top of its range behaves differently from one near the bottom, and if you are close to the edge of one model’s range, the other one gives you more adjustment to work with.
The 220 pound rating is conditional on the installation
LimiKids states that with proper installation the playset can carry children up to 220 pounds, or 100 kilograms. The qualifier is theirs, and it is the important part of the sentence. This is a structure children hang, swing and drop from, indoors, where a failure happens next to furniture and a hard floor. It is the clearest reason to have it installed properly rather than approximately, and it comes from the manufacturer rather than from anyone selling installation.
Accessories have their own separate limits
The load figure for the gym is not the figure for everything attached to it. The chin-up bar is rated to 170 pounds, which matters because it is the accessory most likely to be used by an adult rather than a child. The extending step, which raises the gym by eleven inches, carries 220 pounds. Worth checking each accessory against who will actually be using it, since a chin-up bar in a family home rarely stays a children’s item.
Indoors, the floor is your safety surface
Outdoors this conversation is about wood chips and rubber mulch at a specified depth. Indoors there is no such option, and the fall zone is whatever is already there. LimiKids sells a vinyl covered gym mat at forty-eight by twenty-four by four inches, and more than one is not excessive under a gym with rings and a trapeze. Look at what is around the gym too, since a radiator, a bed frame or a glass door within reach of a swinging child is a bigger hazard than the floor itself.
Check what the gym stands on and what it reaches
A flat, solid floor matters here in the way level ground matters outdoors. Thick carpet, an uneven basement slab or a floating floor all affect how a floor to ceiling structure sits. Check the ceiling too, and what is in it. A gym positioned under a light fitting, a ceiling fan or an access hatch creates a problem that is much easier to avoid when choosing the spot than to fix afterward.
Before you order
Measure floor to ceiling at the exact position the gym will stand, and write the number down. That measurement selects the model, and it is the only irreversible decision in the whole project.
Measure the floor space as well, and remember a child using rings or a trapeze needs clearance well beyond the frame itself.
Look at what is around and above the spot: light fittings, ceiling fans, radiators, furniture with corners, glass.
Plan the matting at the same time as the gym rather than afterward, because indoors there is no other fall surface.
Check the route in. A flat box of roughly two feet by four feet at sixty-five pounds is manageable, but stairwells and turns are worth thinking about before delivery.
Who this is really for
Somebody without a yard, or with a climate that takes half the year away. A gym indoors gets used on the wet Tuesday in February when an outdoor set is standing empty, and that is genuinely the argument for it.
It suits small spaces better than most people expect. A compact model taking three feet by three feet and still offering a ladder, rings, a trapeze and a climbing rope is a lot of activity for the floor area of an armchair.
