Peloton assembly

If you bought a new Peloton, you probably do not need us.

Peloton include white-glove delivery and assembly in the price. We are not going to pretend otherwise to sell you something. Here is when you actually do need an installer.

The three times people call somebody

A NEW BIKE OR TREAD. Peloton send a crew, they assemble it in the room you choose, they do a system check, and they take the packaging. It is included in the sticker price. Use it. If somebody tries to sell you assembly for a brand new Peloton, ask them why.

A USED ONE. This is the real one. A Peloton off Facebook Marketplace or a neighbor’s garage comes with no white glove, no crew, and often no manual. It comes in pieces, in the back of somebody’s SUV, and now it is your problem. A Bike is 135 pounds. A Bike+ is 140. This is the case nobody is serving, and it is most of why this page exists.

MOVING ONE. The Tread weighs 290 pounds and it does not fold. There is no deck to collapse and there are only two front wheels, so moving it means lifting the back end of a 290 pound machine. Peloton do not move it for you when you change house, and a general moving crew will happily leave it in the wrong room.

Treadmills need at least two people. That is not caution, that is a 290 pound machine with a screen on it, going through your doorways.

What goes wrong, specifically

You have to decide where it lives before it arrives

The Tread does not fold. It occupies its footprint permanently, and Peloton ask for at least 79 inches of clear space behind it, because on a bad day you come off the back of a treadmill and that space is what you land in. Decide once. Moving it later is the job on this page.

A used Peloton is missing more than the manual

Bolts, the right torque, the pedal thread direction, and the calibration nobody thought to mention. A used Bike assembled slightly wrong does not fail dramatically. It creaks, it reads resistance wrong, and it annoys you for two years.

The white glove is only as good as the day you get

When it works, reviewers describe it as flawless: you open the door and they leave you with a working machine. When it does not, Peloton’s Trustpilot and BBB files tell a different story: a Tread that arrived broken and a delivery crew that could not get it working and left the owner to call the company. A bike whose screen was dead, discovered by the technician mid-assembly. That is who calls a local installer.

The screen is the expensive part

Peloton warrant the frame for five years, the motor and belt for three, and most components and the TOUCHSCREEN for just one. Whoever moves it should be treating that screen like the thousand-dollar item it is, and not like a handle.

Before it comes through the door

Measure the doorways and the stairs, not the room. The room is fine. It is always the turn at the top of the stairs.

Have a power outlet where the machine is going, not where the extension cord can reach.

If you are buying used, take a photo of it assembled at the seller’s house before it is taken apart. You will want it.

What we are actually for

Assembling a used Bike or Tread that came with nothing. Moving one to a new house, or to a different floor. Putting one back together after a move that somebody else half-did. Getting a Tread up a staircase without destroying the staircase or the screen.

Not selling you assembly you have already paid Peloton for.

What an installer does

  • Assembles a used Bike, Bike+ or Tread properly, with the right torque and the pedals threaded the right way.
  • Moves a Tread between floors or houses, which is a two or three person job with a 290 lb machine that does not fold.
  • Measures your doorways and stairs before the day, rather than discovering them on it.
  • Levels and stabilizes it, so the screen does not shake when you run.
  • Checks it powers up and reads correctly before leaving.
  • Takes the packaging, if there is any.

Get it built by someone who has built one before.

Questions people ask

Does Peloton include assembly?

With a new Bike or Tread, yes. Delivery and professional assembly are included in the price, and the crew will set it up in the room you choose. You do not need to pay anybody else for that, and we would rather tell you than take your money.

I bought a used Peloton. Can someone assemble it?

Yes, and this is the main reason people find this page. A used Bike or Tread arrives with no crew, often no manual, and sometimes not all the bolts. An installer who has done one before will have it together and calibrated in an afternoon.

How heavy is a Peloton Tread?

290 pounds, and it does not fold. It has two wheels at the front, which means moving it involves lifting the back end. It is a two or three person job and it is the single most common reason people call about a Peloton.

Can I move my Peloton myself when I move house?

A Bike at 135 pounds, with help and a plan for the stairs, maybe. A Tread at 290, not folding, with a touchscreen that carries a one year warranty, is not the thing to learn on.

My Peloton delivery went wrong. Can an installer fix it?

Often. Owners report Tread deliveries where the crew could not get the machine working and left them to phone the company. If the machine is in the house and not working, somebody local can usually sort out what was left half-done.
